Hi Everyone,

We have had great weather here the last two days. I sure hope cold weather
is on its way out. We went to the house site on Wednesday and they will
soon have the roof on. We are getting very excited!

In this issue, please check out the article on sugar consumption and our
diet. Regarding that article, I think it’s very interesting that in the
media there are more and more specifics about changing our diets if we want
to have optimal health. Something we personally have all known, I am sure.
It’s just nice to see the mainstream media begin confirming our long
standing choices were good ones.

March 20th, is the Great American Meatout why don’t you consider at least
attending an event and listen to some of the statistics. You’ll be glad you
did. More details are below in the nutrition section.

As always, thanks for your readership and encouragement.

Until next time,

A healthy body is host to a delicate balance of yeast and friendly
microflora. That balance is easily compromised through a poor diet and some
prescription medications, turning your body into a breeding ground for yeast
and fungal infections. Excesses of yeast and fungus can compromise the
immune, digestive and urinary systems.

Yeast/Fungal Detox is a potent detoxification product formulated to inhibit
the growth of unfriendly organisms and help restore the body to optimal

LONDON – People should get no more than 10 percent of their calories from
sugar, experts say in a major new report Monday on how to stem the global
epidemic of obesity-linked diseases.

The study is the most significant in more than a decade on what the world
should be doing about its diet. Although concerns about sugar intake are not
new, very few experts have recommended a specific limit.

The food industry immediately decried the document, insisting more exercise
is the key to ending obesity.

The report was commissioned by two U.N. agencies, the World Health
Organization (news – web sites) and the Food and Agriculture Organization
(news – web sites), and compiled by a panel of 30 international experts.

The experts say heart disease, diabetes and other diseases that can be
caused by poor diet and lack of exercise are no longer just the preserve of
the Western world.

The report underlines what doctors have been saying for years ˜ that along
with regular exercise, a diet low in fatty, sugary and salty food is key to
staying healthy.

The experts recommend one hour of daily exercise, double the amount
recommended by the U.S. government but the same as that endorsed by other

And their recommendations on how much fat, grains, protein, salt and fruits
and vegetables people should eat also were in line with prevailing opinion.

But when it came to sugar, their advice was some of the boldest yet.

The experts said people should restrict their consumption of added sugar ˜
including sugar from honey, syrups and fruit juices ˜ to below 10 percent of

In the United States, which leads the world in obesity, the government’s
Dietary Guidelines for Americans advise only that sugar should be used in
moderation. The Institute of Medicine (news – web sites), part of the U.S..
National Academy of Sciences (news – web sites), recommended in September
that sugar could make up to 25 percent of calories.

Life can be a pretty big headache these days – and that applies to your
kids, too. Children’s headaches are probably underreported, yet you’ve
certainly heard your child complaining about having one. For you, the big
question is when to be concerned about your child’s headaches. How do you
know when the problem is more than worry about an upcoming test or a fight
with a friend? What kinds of headaches do children suffer from, and how
should they be treated?

When Should You Be Concerned?
Frequency and apparent cause are factors you can use to determine if your
child’s headaches are reason for concern. Most of the time, you can identify
the cause of your child’s headache, such as staying up too late, playing in
the sun too long or bumping his head. Unexplained or recurring headaches
over a short period of time, however, should be brought to the attention of
your child’s doctor. But how short is a “short” period of time?

“If your 6-year-old is complaining of significant, unexplained headaches
once a month or more often over several month’s time, I think it would be
reasonable to have that child seen by a doctor,” says Dr. Hammond, a
neurologist. “That frequency in an adolescent who may be under stress at
school would not be as worrisome.”

The healthy human intestinal tract contains billions of bacteria that live
in a delicate balance with each other and in symbiosis with us. We provide
them with a home and in turn they break down our food into easily absorbed
nutrients and act as natural antibiotics by either crowding out or producing
substances to kill unfriendly microorganisms.

They also aid digestion in a variety of ways and promote immunity. Factors
such as stress, disease, environmental conditions or the use of certain
medicines can harm these friendly bacteria.

Synthetic antibiotics practically wipe out these beneficial organisms!

Improved Bifidophilus Flora Force provides billions of beneficial intestinal
microorganisms that offer a whole range of health benefits. This product
contains Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum plus two
additional bacterial strains, Lactobacillus caseii and Lactobacillus
rhamnosus for a more complete probiotic formula and added support for the
immune system.

Nature’s Sunshine has added fructo-oligsaccharides (short- and long-chain),
which support the growth of these beneficial organisms, to ensure the
potency of this product. Each capsule provides a good balance of 4 billion
beneficial bacteria. This product is recommended for daily use to help
maintain a healthy balance of friendly bacteria in the intestinal tract and
to support the immune system.

Learn to recognize how dangerous a toxic product really is. Pay particular
attention to the warning word used. The federal government has labeling
laws that tell you how dangerous those cleaning products really are. It
also acts as a disclaimer for the companies manufacturing them.

POISON/DANGER = very toxic – only a few drops could kill you WARNING =
moderately toxic – as little as a teaspoonful can kill CAUTION = less toxic
– two tablespoons to a cup could kill you STRONG SENSITIZER = can cause
multiple allergies

The Environmental Health Foundation lists the top four chemical groups that
we should reject and eliminate. They are:

toxic gases (such as chlorine and ammonia)
heavy metals (such as lead and mercury)
volatile organic compounds (such as formaldehyde and solvents)

If we begin to eliminate these chemicals, we can make a difference in our
own health and that of our family and the environment.

On March 20, a dietary revolution will be going on in kitchens, college
campuses, and neighborhoods across the United States, in Canada, and in many
other countries. Since 1985, the first day of spring has been dedicated as
The Great American Meatout. Led by FARM, the goal of this “steakout” is to
“kick the meat habit, at least for a day, and to explore a more wholesome,
less violent diet.”

The campaign is now the nation’s largest annual grass-roots dietary
education program. Last year’s Meatout was highly successful, with over
2,000 events throughout the U.S. and Canada.

An event like this would not be complete without a host of celebrities
speaking out for the cause. This year’s headliners include Casey Kasem, Mary
Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, Rue McClanahan, James Cromwell, Jennie Garth, and
Peter Falk.
