Sunshine Family Newsletter – November 2006 – The Herbs Place

Sunshine Family Monthly News
November 3, 2006 Edition

A Note From Donna

One gorgeous day this week drove me to the hammock. I get a lot of peace and relaxation just from viewing the hammock from the window where I work … but being in it is like being nowhere else in the world.

It was lovely to see the busy birds gathering as many seeds and bugs as they could, making me feel just a bit guilty. I know my days are numbered for any hammock time, so I wanted to take advantage of the moment.

I took Randal to the airport this morning for a 7 AM flight to Oklahoma City. His dad is celebrating his 80th birthday this weekend and Randal is the surprise guest. Our son will pick him up at the airport and he carries with him many hugs for all from me. I stay behind so Randal can truly get a break from the business and relax which he so seldom does, but affords me the opportunity to do any day.

I hope you are enjoying any nice days that remain before winter comes blowing in. Send me an update on what’s working for you in building your Sunshine Family. We’d also like you to share what’s going on in your world. Share the excitement, share prayer requests.

Sunshine Blessings to Each of You!
Donna

NSP Helps You Do Business Quick and Easy

Like some of our managers, we also use the Expiring Report on the NSP Office site to remind our expired people that they need to renew. The report gives you the option to check off the people and have it send an email, which only takes a few minutes of time. People do get a snail mailing from NSP but if they’ve moved or they put their work address on the account, they may not get that mailing. Even if they did, they may need a reminder on it since the notice may be stacked somewhere on a pile of papers.

I send out notices each week, but you can schedule it to do at any interval. It won’t allow you to do it twice so you won’t have to track where you stopped. We had a call from somebody last week that said she’d gotten the email on renewing and wanted to place an order. We directed her to NSP but were happy to know that using the Expiring Report option is rewarding us with renewals and increased QV. We have had managers reporting that they notice an increase in renewal rate also.

Log-in to NSP Office. Choose "Business Reports" and then "Expiring Member Accounts."

Knowing the Answers

Q. Can a Manager break out under a Member Sponsor?

A. When a Member/Distributor qualifies as a Manager before his/her Sponsor, the Sponsor has six months from the date of the new Manager’s breakout to achieve Manager status. During the six-month grace period, no first-level commissions will be paid to the Sponsor. The 12 % commission is transferred directly to the upline Manager. If the Sponsor fails to become a Manager within the six months, he/she permanently loses the downline Manager, along with any future benefits he/she may have accrued. The new Manager is subsequently relinked as a first level Manager to the upline Manager.

NSP Events: Qualifications for 2007 Convention Cruise

NSP’s already planning the 35th Anniversary Convention, an eight-day Caribbean cruise. This will be the longest convention we’ve ever had. They make it pretty easy to earn these anniversary conventions, so be sure you check qualifications to be on target to go. They began on September 1 and go until May 31, 2007. The cruise is in October 2007. NSP will have the entire ship and it’s a ship geared for family fun, so you can bring your entire family.

If you’re not at Manager level yet, that’s your first goal. You must be a Manager to earn convention. If you become a new Manager during the qualification period, you will need to average Here’s the two ways to qualify:

Method 1 – Group QV Increase

Convention for 2: Increase your monthly Group QV average during the qualification period by at least 600 QV/month, compared to the same period in the prior year.

Convention for 1: Increase your monthly Group QV average during the qualification period by at least 400 QV/month, compared to the same period in the prior year.

Method 2 – Total Group QV

Convention for 2: Accumulate a total of 90,000 Group QV during the qualification period.

Convention for 1: Accumulate a total of 60,000 Group QV during the qualification period.

Bonus QV: Many NSP Managers have earned Bonus QV. This Bonus QV will be applied automatically to your actual Group QV during the qualifi cation period (for both methods).

Breakout Bonus QV: You’ll receive 500 Bonus QV for each new Manager you break out during the qualifi cation period (for both methods).

Free August “Goal Insurance”: After the September–May period, NSP will automatically replace your lowest non-pending month’s Group QV with your August 2006 amount (if August is higher).

Building Business With Personal Contact: Send an Ecard From the NSP Site

Ecards are a great way to communicate electronically with your friends, family and downline about Nature’s Sunshine Products. Use these cards to announce classes or events, send reminders to purchase, or introduce others to NSP products and the NSP business opportunity.

The site shows your entire downline address book so you can simply check off the person you want to send an e-card to. This would be a great way to celebrate birthdays or just drop-in to say hello.

With just a little more time, you can use this feature to send your own personalized messages to those who are expiring or to remind those who are close to getting a bonus check that they need to order before the end of the month. You can use the NSP Office reports to get the names and then check them off in the e-card address book and send them all a card at one time.

There are lots of uses for e-cards and the visual image of a Nature’s Sunshine Product is powerful also. There are 10 options to choose from and one of them is a Thank You card.

The site will import your entire downline list alphabetically for you to check off names or send to all. A neat way to let the group know if Thai-Go or Clean Start or something is on special – at least products that have an e-card of the product. A picture is worth a thousand words 🙂

I’m going to be using this feature to send out Thank YOU’s to our members this month to celebrate Thanksgiving. We like to count our blessings around this holiday time and having an NSP business is a big one for us, so we want to say thanks to those who are part of our Sunshine Family.

You can find the e-card feature on the main NSP site here:

Growing Your Business:
Retail Basics – Realizing Your Retailing Vision

Running a retail business isn’t easy. It helps to know retailing basics, plus a few secrets from the experts. Dwayne Tiller, Regional Manager from Fort Worth, Texas, qualifies as an expert. He runs his own store as well as nsptools.com and shares a few tips with us.

• Develop a mission statement. Know what you want to accomplish. Explain the mission to your staff. They will help you follow this vision. If you don’t know where you’re going, how do you expect them to know?

• Learn to sell. You can have the best heart in the world and be very knowledgeable, but if you don’t know how to sell, then you’ll turn people away. Both you and your staff should take courses on selling. One simple selling tip is to ask questions that elicit information, like “What can we do for you today?” rather than a yes/no question like “Can I help you?” Believe it or not, learning to sell is more important than building a downline. Once you know how to sell, then selling the opportunity of the business will come naturally.

• Work “on” your business instead of “in” your business. As an owner, don’t do things that the staff should be doing. Learn to focus on fulfilling your mission statement instead of cleaning the restrooms or sweeping the floors.

• Service the customer to the max. Be willing to do whatever it takes to help your customers. I have an umbrella that I use to walk customers into the store on rainy days. If a customer needs a product that day and we don’t have it, we call our competitors to see if they have it. When the marginal net worth of a customer is $12,000 in 10 years, then the $20 sale you gave to the competition doesn’t matter. What matters is outstanding service. That will bring them back to you!

• Image marketing. Do you have a sloppy store with high quality products in it? Are you drinking diet sodas or eating fast food at the counter where customers can see them? Do you have a chair with a television at the front counter? Is your dress attire that of cutoff shorts and a worn-out shirt? Be a professional at all times!

• Speak positively, not negatively. Be inspirational with ideas and goal setting. Go after problems with positive solutions. Don’t get caught up in negative speaking or rumors. Never pass your problems on to your downline.

• Set standards. Write a store manual that outlines the store policy. Refer to it regularly during your store meetings.

• Build a downline. Look for little opportunities to share the NSP business opportunity. Someone might say, “I can’t stand my job” or “This store is nice.” How you handle these opportunities can make a difference.

Retail can be fun and very rewarding. Learn to market yourself well, and both your customers and staff will respond in positive ways
