A NOTE FROM DONNA

Our son, Benjamin, has been visiting for almost a week and will depart
tomorrow. It has been such a joy to have him here in Virginia. This was
his first visit since we moved here in November. He loves Nature as we do
and being so close to the Blue Ridge Mountains afforded us some very special
times in the forests and by the waterfalls.

We recently had our backyard certified as a "Backyard Wildlife Habitat."
The program is sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation. It's nothing
legal that affects the sale of your property. It's a lot of fun, especially
if you'd like to share the wonders of Nature with your children or
grandchildren. The cost is only $15. You can learn more about it here:

When we moved in we put out food and water and my husband began building
bluebird houses. We've put up 5 and we've had 5 families of bluebirds. It
seems they're getting ready for the next round of nesting. It's so
incredible to wake up to the sound of birds.

The wonder of Nature changes the perspective on how we live life.

LOBELIA

This herb is commonly used both externally and internally to relax all
spasms. In small doses, it is used for lung congestion; and in large doses,
it acts as a powerful emetic.

It helps remove mucus from the lungs and digestive tract. A few drops of
the tincture can be placed in the ear to relieve earaches. Lobelia is often
used in liniments and poultices to reduce swelling in sprains and strained
ligaments and for congestion in the muscles. It may be used with Catnip in

"I suffer with eczema in the winter months, especially my right thumb, which
cracks open in one spot and never seems to heal until the warm weather comes
in. The past few days, I've also developed a painful rash between my second
and third fingers of my right hand. After reading your comments on Tea Tree

PAINT THE PORCH?

A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a
handyman and started canvassing a well-to-do neighborhood. She went to the
front door of the 1st house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her
to do. "Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?" The blonde
said, "How about 50 dollars?" The man agreed and told her that the paint and
other materials that she might need were in the garage.

The man's wife, inside the house, heard the conversation and said to her
husband, "Does she realize that the porch goes all the way around the
house?" The man replied, "She should, she was standing on it." A short time
later the blonde came to the door to collect her money. "You're finished
already?" he asked. "Yes," the blonde answered, "and I had paint left over,
so I gave it two coats." Impressed, the man reached in his pocket for the
$50. "And by the way," the blonde added, "it's not a Porch, it's a Lexus."
