A NOTE FROM DONNA

I've had a friend visiting with me and it's been such fun.
She's one of those "old" friends that I've known for a long
time. One of those that always seem to be there when
you need to talk. We are now many miles apart since I've
moved to Virginia and she's on the Gulf coast of Alabama.

Good friends are never too far away though. Especially
with the internet. What a blessing it is to have email and
cheap long distance telephone rates.

She will be leaving tomorrow and I know I will miss her
even more than I did before she came, but there will be
another load of memories to add to the memory data bank
in my brain. Sometimes it takes work to keep in touch with
friends. Make the effort! There are seasons in life when
nothing else matters but the comfort of a good friend.

Immune Protection:
GRAVE ROBBER'S BLEND

During the time of the Black Plague in Europe (1348 - 1350, a family of
perfumers robbed the dead. Working with essential oils in their perfumery,
they knew the antiseptic properties of the oils, so they infused them in
vinegar and applied them to their bodies to protect themselves from certain
death while they did their robbing. Back to the robbers! The recipe came
to be known as the Grave Robber's Blend.

The doctors of the time did the same thing to protect themselves while
attending to the sick who were so contagious. They wore cloaks over their
heads and attached to the cloaks over the nose and mouth area were small
receptacles of antiseptic herbs and oils.

This method of immune protection is still effective today and is a great
formula for disinfecting a house or the kitchen counters. Vinegar has
always been a great resource for cleaning in many ways.

Recipe:
2 cups apple cider vinegar
20 drops Lavender Oil
20 drops Rosemary Oil
20 drops Peppermint Oil

Put it in a spray bottle and spray where ever you would use Lysol. It does
a much safer and better job! No need to worry about the toxicity of having
Lysol around the house and the herbal spray is safe for children and pets.

HEALTHY PEOPLE WARNED OFF ASPIRIN

Some have hailed aspirin as the "wonder drug" of the 20th
century because of its proven effectiveness at reducing the
risk of heart attacks or strokes in people who have already
suffered such problems.

However, taking aspirin also increased the risk of gastro-
intestinal bleeding complications by 70%.

For those who have not had a first heart attack or stroke,
and if a person's risk of a coronary event is low, then they
do not need to take aspirin.

BEAUTY FOR THE LOVE OF ANIMALS

One of the issues I've had an interest in is trying to
purchase products that are cruelty-free. That means
they haven't been tested on animals, nor were the
ingredients tested on animals. I especially want to do
this with cosmetics and personal care items....
I guess because it's so close to my skin :-)

regularly. I'm real excited about it and hope that some of

"As soon as I began to go through menopause it seemed my skin began to

LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL

I have used Lemon Oil for its anti-infectious and anti-viral
properties. It's a great addition to the Sunshine Concentrate you
should already be using for hand soap. Add 7 drops to the
quart-size container for hand soap at your sinks. If you have
another spray bottle that you use with Sunshine Concentrate for
cleaning countertops, you can add Lemon Oil to it to disinfect
with every wipe!

Lemon Oil can be used to keep iced tea fresh. It gives it a nice
flavor also and tastes good longer than tea without it.

Diffused in the air it helps to clean the air of hostile bacteria
and viruses. You can put it in some warm water and diffuse it
into the air of a 'sick room' or around your desk if you don't
want to 'catch' what everybody else has.

It is also known to make people more alert and positive.
Somebody informed us she was using this in an electric potpourri
pot (diffused from warm water) in her office and noticed a big

RECIPE WITH STEVIA: Monster Cookie Balls
Recipe by David Richard at Healthy.net

2 Cups Rolled Oats
1 Large Apple, Finely-Diced
3/4 Cup of Raisins or Currants
1 Cup of Nut Butter (Your Choice)
1/4-1/2 Lb. Whole Pecans
1/2 Stick of Butter or Non-Hydrogenated Margarine
1/2 Cup Carob Chips (Optional)
2 Whole Eggs
1 Cup of Spring or Filtered Water
l/2 tsp STEVIA Powdered Extract

Combine rolled oats, eggs, water and butter in a mixing bowl. Stir in nut
butter and remaining ingredients (except the pecans). Form into balls and
place onto an oiled cookie sheet. Place a whole pecan on top of each ball.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
