Boy, when it comes to health, I just don't see our government really
protecting it for us. Have you seen the recent rulings on what is now
allowed to be sold for meat in our nation? It certainly keeps folks looking
for organic sources of meat.....or keeps them vegetarians :-)

The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture has APPROVED THE USE OF MEAT
FROM ANIMALS WITH CANCER. The Scripps Howard News Service
reports: "The federal agency overseeing food inspection is reclassifying
animal carcasses with cancers, tumors and open sores as safe for human
consumption."

Among animal diseases the USDA claims do not present a health problem to
consumers are: Cancer, glandular swellings or lymphomas, sores, infectious
arthritis, diseases caused by intestinal worms, and airsacculitis (a poultry

We live in Alabama which has the second largest poultry processing plant in
the country. This report details the conditions at the Guntersville,
Alabama, plant:

"Thousands of pounds of chicken with tumors, pus, sores and scabs have been
passed onto unsuspecting consumers by the GoldKist plant in Guntersville,
Alabama in a failed USDA experimental inspection program begun last fall.

RONALD McDONALD & HEALTH

Why is PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) taking on
McDonald's? Their response is:

In the same way that cigarette manufacturers target teens, McDonald's
directs much of its annual $2 billion ad budget towards kids. Ronald
McDonald is the nutritional equivalent of the Marlboro Man, hawking
fat-laden products that put people in intensive care with fatal ailments
like cancer, heart disease, and stroke. In fact, the British High Court
recently ruled that McDonald's ad campaigns exploit children. The court
also ruled that McDonald's is "culpably responsible" for cruelty to animals.
McDonald's cows are often skinned and dismembered while they are conscious.
Animals raised for McDonald's are subjected to painful procedures that have

I know that to attack McDonald's is an affront to many good families,
however, if you're talking nutrition and health, McDonald's is not the place
to eat. PETA is what I consider a very radical group with a very high
profile image, which tends to make people turn aside. However, there are
comments from many avenues of our culture and many perspectives at this
site, with this being an example::

Peter Cox, Food and Health researcher - "The plaintiffs [McDonald's] are in
the business of selling hamburgers. Had they left it at that, they could not
be reasonably criticized for 'deliberately misleading the public as to the
nutritional value of the food they sell'. However, the plaintiffs have
deliberately sought to pass their products off as 'a very valuable part of a
healthy diet'. In these health-conscious times, this is no doubt an
extremely effective marketing device. But that is all it is. It is not the

E.C. has Incomplete Herpes Complex, which falls under the category of a
shingles-type problem. Frequently she breaks out in a rash on her hip and it
remains there for several days to a week. When she got VS-C for her cats

ANYBODY WONDERING?......

Remember in the last issue one of the "crazy facts" was that there was no
Betty in Flintstone Vitamins. Somebody asked why they didn't use Betty in
Flintstone Vitamins. So, for those inquiring minds that want to know...and
for those who just need a giggle...one of our subscribers knows and told us:

"It's because, Betty's neck is too thin to support her large head and it
kept snapping off so that consumers were getting only "Beheaded Bettys" in
their jars of vitamins, so the manufacturer discontinued Betty very early
