Nature's Cortisol - A New Approach to Weight Loss

Researchers have begun to notice a connection between cortisol levels and weight management. Cortisol is a hormone produced in the adrenal glands in response to stress and promotes the formation of glucose. This new formula has a three-pronged approach: to manage stress and cortisol levels and maintain normal blood sugar levels. You will be impressed with what the ingredients are and what they will do for stress, energy and weight loss. A safe formula for those with high blood pressure or diabetes.

Spirulina Boosts Immune System and A Whole Lot More

Adding spirulina to cultured immune system cells significantly increases the production of infection fighting cytokines, say immunologists at UC Davis School of Medicine and Medical Center. Their finding is published in the Fall issue of the Journal of Medicinal Foods.

"We found that nutrient-rich spirulina is a potent inducer of interferon-gamma (13.6-fold increase) and a moderate stimulator of both interleukin-4 and interleukin-1beta (3.3-fold increase)," says Eric Gershwin, professor and chief of the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Clinical Immunology at UC Davis.

"Together, increases in these cytokines suggest that spirulina is a strong proponent for protecting against intracellular pathogens and parasites and can potentially increase the expression of agents that stimulate inflammation, which also helps to protect the body against infectious and potentially harmful micro-organisms."

Other Incredible Benefits from Spirulina

* World's highest beta carotene food reduces long term health risks. Spirulina beta carotene is ten times more concentrated than carrots.

* 60% easy-to-digest vegetable protein without the fat and cholesterol of meat.

* A rare essential fatty acid is a key to health. Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) in mother's milk helps develop healthy babies. Spirulina is the only other whole food with GLA.

* Spirulina is rich in iron, magnesium and trace minerals.

* High in Vitamin B-12 and B Complex. Spirulina is the highest source of B-12.

* Unusual phytonutrients for health and cleansing.

Walking Before Eating Offsets Fatty Meals
By Miranda Hitti - WebMD Medical News

Just one long walk can protect your heart from fatty foods, making it easier to eat, drink, and be merry with minimal guilt. Recent studies show an association between fatty meals and an immediate decrease in blood vessel function. This dysfunction and inflammation are key to the development of atherosclerosis and heart disease, and more recent evidence has linked these findings to the effects of a fatty meal.

The researchers say that a single exercise session of moderate intensity can reduce these detrimental fats by as much as 20%- 25%.

But could prior exercise have an affect on what fat does to healthy vessels? That's what researchers from Scotland's University of Glasgow wanted to find out. They studied 20 obese and normal-weight men; all were healthy middle-aged nonsmokers.

Health Tip

Hearing loss does not have to be an expected result of aging. The primary reason Americans go deaf is their past exposure to noise. With every noise that is loud or long enough, some of the 16,000 or so tiny hairs inside each ear that allow sound waves to be heard are permanently damaged, causing a gradual hearing loss that becomes noticeable in middle age and beyond.

Some sound advice: wear ear protection around loud noises.

Building Immune System, Losing Weight

"I have been a frequent cold sufferer since my late teens. My immune system does not seem to be as strong as others. I am a flight attendant and come in contact with many people during my workday. Working in a confined area with re-circulated air picking up people's garbage certainly didn't help the situation. For six years of this career, I barely got over one cold before coming down with another. I had a new cold about every six weeks.

My step-mom introduced me to Para-Cleanse. I went on a strict 10-day program with the herbs and a diet that would help the herbs do their job better. The diet consisted of non-starchy vegetables, no sugar, milk, red meat or wheat products. I ate chicken and fish, vegetables and rice for 10 days. I used rice milk since the intent of the diet was to refrain from anything that would cause mucus or coat the intestines, making nutrients difficult to absorb.

Two things happened when I completed the 10-day program. First, I did not catch another cold for 11 months! Second, a side effect of the program, I lost 15 pounds which i needed to lose although I never expected that to happen.

Since that first cleanse, I have continued to do this cleanse at least once a year, sometimes twice. I would highly recommend this to anyone trying to accomplish the same thing I needed to." L.G.

An old man strode in to his doctors office and said, "Doc, my druggist said to tell you to change my prescription and to check the prescription you've been giving to Mrs. Smith."

"Oh, he did, did he?" the doctor shot back. "And since when does a druggist second guess a doctor's orders?"

The old man says, "Since he found out I've been on birth control pills since February."
