A NOTE FROM RANDAL
Hope all of you are having a good summer. I have just gotten back from
visiting my folks and son in Oklahoma. It's nice to see people you don't
get to see much, but it's always nice to eventually be back home. Needless
to say, I have come home and I echo those sentiments once again.
We have done well this year with our plants in the yard. Since using the
Garlic Barrier we have not had any deer munching on our precious flowers.
Last year by this time we had lost all our plants. I haven't figured out a
way to stop the squirrels, though. They ate my tomatoes last year and this
year they're enjoying my Stonecrop Sedum. Here's a link to Garlic Barrier:

Remember to drink your electrolytes if you get out in this heat and stay
cool if at all possible. Potassium depletion is a real problem in the
summer. It's a very important mineral. Read more:

I appreciate your readership.
Until next time,
Randal

SAW PALMETTO
Author: Ken R. Wells
Saw palmetto is an extract derived from the deep purple berries of the saw
palmetto fan palm (Serenoa repens), a plant indigenous to the coastal
regions of the southern United States and southern California. There is an
estimated one million acres of wild saw palmetto palms in Florida, where the
bulk of commercial saw palmetto is grown. For more of the article:

HEALTH NEWS
EXPERTS RETHINK ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Since the green movement began in the 1960s, environmental health efforts
have focused largely on reducing air and water pollution and regulating
chemical toxins. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is
reframing the issue as an aspect of public health. In their view,
environmental health considerations should include such things as whether
neighborhood design discourages exercise by omitting sidewalks or bicycle
paths and whether long commutes or office-building designs increase rates of
depression. http://healthy.net/asp/templates/news.asp?Id=2590

SPLINTERS
When you get a splinter, reach for the scotch tape before resorting to
tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter, then
pull it off. Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily.
If it's in deep, we would hope you keep Black Ointment around the house for
this one of many uses it serves. It will pull out a splinter that you can't
see with it's strong drawing abilities.

NUTRITION CHOICE
STEVIA: SATISFYING THE SWEET TOOTH
When I began to recognize the symptoms of Hypoglycemia or Low Blood Sugar experienced upon indulging my taste for sweets, I realized that conventional sweeteners were due to make an exit from my diet. Knowing I would find a great challenge in attempting this dietary change, I delved into a search for healthy alternatives and discovered a sweet surprise known as Stevia.

LAUGHING LINES
HOW LONG IS THE TRIP?
A Goober gets on a bus and asks the driver how long the trip is between
Limerick and Cork.
"About two hours," says the conductor.
"OK," said the man... "then how long is the trip between Cork and Limerick?"
The irate driver says to the man "It's still about two hours. Why would you
think there'd be a difference?"
"Well," said the man, "It's only a week between Christmas and New Year, but
it's a long time between New Year and Christmas!"
