This formula contains huperzine, Ginkgo biloba, phos-phatidyl serine, choline, ethanolamine, inositol, lycopene, alpha lipoic acid and Rhododendron caucasicum. These herbs, nutrients and antioxidants protect the brain from damage, supply nutrients for maintenance of brain cells and enhance brain activity.
Ingredient Benefits:
Huperzine (25 mcg. per capsule) is a substance that occurs naturally in Chinese club moss, a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine. It appears to block the enzyme acetyl-cholinesterase, helping to prevent the breakdown of acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter. People with Alzheimer's disease or memory trouble have characteristically low levels of acetylcholine.
The herb Ginkgo biloba (60 mg. per capsule) helps support circulation throughout the body as well as to and within the brain. Improved circulation may promote better concentration, memory and alertness. Ginkgo also protects capillaries and strengthens the blood/brain barrier, increasing resistance to unwanted invaders.
A blend (10mg. per capsule) of Phosphatidyl serine, choline, ethanolamine and inositol help support and protect proper brain function.
The powerful antioxidants lycopene and alpha lipoic acid (2.5 mg. per capsule) neutralize free radicals. Alpha lipoic acid may also play a role in long-term memory.
Rhododendron caucasicum is a potent free radical quencher that has been used for decades in Russia. One capsule of Brain Protex provides 5 mg of Rhododendron caucasicum root extract. Rhododendron caucasicum is a unique plant among all other species of Rhododendron and is considered safe for human consumption. It is reported that some species Rhododendrons, mainly the flowers, contain grayanotoxins, which are not soluble in water and can be harmful. The root extract in our product is extracted with water. This 100% water-soluble extract does not contain grayanotoxins.
